Made. By Lia

Lia Weber is a proud North County St. Louis native who is passionate about investing in her community. Weber is a well-known pastry chef who started the Made. By Lia brand in 2012 and won TLC’s Next Great Baker in 2014 with fellow chef Al Watson.

“It was a crazy adventure being on the show. It was exhausting filming 15-20 hours a day and competing. But it was fun, and we had a blast! I would do it again in a heartbeat. I wouldn’t be where I am today without being on the show.”

You may also know Weber from her days as pastry chef at Hendel’s, owned by her sister and brother-in-law, where she popularized her lemon meringue tarts. Now, she plans to open her first brick-and-mortar location for Made. By Lia at 610 Rue St. Francois in Florissant, Missouri. The grand opening was scheduled for Spring 2020 but has been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The bakery will serve gooey butter cake, pastries, cupcakes, local coffee, and other specialties. Made. By Lia will also offer Weber’s acclaimed wedding cakes, celebrated for their great taste and beautiful design. Weber has dreamt of opening a bakery since she was a kid.

When asked what she would tell others in North County who have a dream of opening a small business or who want to dive into a passion she said this:

“If it’s something you wake up in the middle of the night thinking about and it’s something that really starts a fire in you, then just go for it! I had a completely different vision for the place when I first started my brand, and there was even a time when I considered staying home after having my kids. But it’s something that really put a fire on my heart and I’m so proud of where we are today. I give that all to God.”
